For this project, we envisioned a fashion beauty photoshoot in a setting that blended nature with contemporary architecture. Our location was a vast open field featuring an imposing stainless steel cube structure. Its minimalist, industrial appearance created a particularly interesting contrast with the surrounding greenery, providing the perfect graphic backdrop to showcase both the model and the quality of the lighting.

An Ideal Location to Shape Light
One of the most interesting characteristics of this structure was the large shaded area it created on one side. We chose to position our subject there in order to minimize the influence of direct sunlight and regain complete control over the lighting using our artificial light source. This setup allowed us to create precise, consistent, and highly controllable lighting while maintaining a natural atmosphere.
Lighting Setup
The Siros 800 L was positioned so that the light would fall somewhere between a side light and a back light. This orientation helped create volume in the hair, define the contours of the face, and maintain strong separation between the subject and the background.
With the New Diffuser
Used on its own, the Focus 110 produces a more direct and contrasty light.
Once the diffuser is installed, the behavior of the light changes immediately. The transition between highlights and shadows becomes much softer. Contrast is slightly reduced, skin details are rendered more delicately, and the lighting takes on a much more natural appearance.
In the context of our shoot, which was conducted entirely on the shaded side of the structure, this diffused version proved especially relevant.
The result resembled a large natural light source, similar to the light produced by an expansive overcast sky. The effect was subtle, elegant, and perfectly suited to the beauty aesthetic we were aiming for.

Verdict
The new diffuser to broncolor Focus 110 adds an extremely interesting level of versatility to an already highly capable light modifier.
Without the diffuser, the Focus retains its more punchy and contrasty character. With the diffuser, it transforms into a much softer and more enveloping light source capable of reproducing remarkably natural-looking light.
Combined with the Siros 800 L, the system becomes a lightweight, compact, and efficient solution that is equally well suited for editorial portraits, commercial productions, and outdoor fashion shoots.

After this session, one thing is certain: the diffuser does not replace the unique character of the Focus 110—it adds a new dimension that significantly expands its versatility in the field.
