Swensen's is a synonym for extraordinary and delicious ice cream since 1948. The company creates 180 flavours of ice cream and is available in over 300 ice cream parlours worldwide, including Asia, the Middle East, USA and South America. Swensen's was the first to serve a premium ice cream that is all natural, so the company on its webpage.

In the “Ice Ice Baby” project, Swensen’s Thailand tasked the commercial photographer Thanadul Panyunyong to create an updated product presentation for their ice cream menus. Thanadul is based in Bangkok, Thailand and focuses on professional commercial and advertising photography.

The overall mood and tone of the brand’s communication is given by the corporate organization. The details and the exact image composition of the “Ice Ice Baby” job were defined mutually by representatives of Swensen's Thailand, a food stylist team and, of course, the photographer.

To create a mood that tends towards relaxation, a sunlight imitation has been chosen. However, the light had to be soft enough to avoid deep dark shadows. For the main light – meaning the artificial sun – a broncolor Pulso G 3200 J lamp without filters was selected. The lamp has been positioned behind the object, placed slightly to the right. To realise the desired fall of the shadow, the lamp was lifted a touch higher than the product itself.

To further shape the sunlight imitation, the shadow was stretched. For a dazzling light effect, some light was reflected in a glass to produce a shimmering light effect. A medium-sized white flag in front of the lamp softened the light while keeping the glossiness. The feeling of reflected sunlight on the glass was perfectly achieved by using this setup.

For highlighting some of the product details and to give the glass more dimension, another broncolor Pulso G lamp with a 60 x 100 cm softbox was added to the set. An additional waxed sheet in front of the softbox eliminated strong reflections. These reflections would have changed the shadow of the object and destroyed the desired mood and tone of the photo.

The ambient light was provided by a third broncolor Pulso G lamp with a P70 standard reflector. This lamp was directed towards a larger frame with white scrim above the product. It brightened the complete set to make the product details better visible without impacting the mood and tone of the composition.
