Working with Peak Vigour, a start-up fashion brand, we set out to create vibrant imagery that catches the eye.
For this series, we wanted to play around with colour and contrast, creating a dark set and a high key set of vibrant images to highlight the Peak Vigour clothing. To achieve this, we used colour gels on our broncolor Siros 800 L strobes. Every strobe had an L40 reflector on the front, and we used our studio cove wall and a 1x2 white bounce to shape the light further.
For the lighter images, we used a broncolor Siros 800 L with an L40 on the background, gelled with steel blue. This not only lit the background but also gave a nice kick of colour back into the edge of the model. As the key light in all the images, we bounced a Siros 800 L, gelled, directly into a white bounce that was angled down onto the subject, meaning the light direction was more flattering on the model’s face.
On the darker images, we took a similar approach but also used the white studio floor to bounce light into the model. We placed a Siros 800 L with a gel on the edge of the frame, which helped kick light into the lens, creating a flare and haze in the camera.
The result is a beautiful blend of colours and flares that kick into the frame, separating the model from the background.
