Fashion Shoot in the Scottish Highlands

by Still Moving Media

In late September we travelled up to the incredible Scottish Highlands for an exciting shoot with DuckersStyle, a custom-made clothing brand that wanted a unique high-end look to their Autumn/Winter collection campaign.

Shooting in the breath-taking scenery of the Scottish mountains and moorlands was an incredible experience, however not without its complications. Navigating the ever-changer terrain, weather and landscapes meant we had to be agile and lightweight. We took our broncolor Siros L Kit with some gels allowing us to experiment, mixing ambient and strobe. Shooting on our Canon DSLR, we had a very run-and-gun setup, with two Siros on stands, and mostly used L40 reflectors, with the occasional Beauty Dish and a broncolor Octabox.

The hero shots all used a similar setup. Our key light was the 150 cm Octabox, angled off-camera, with a Siros L, gelled with various colours, as an edge light.

By using gels, we were able to play with colour and white balance, getting some really strong in-camera looks. Our favourite shot was when their model, Alex, walks towards the camera with a lake behind him. The sun was halfway behind a cloud, creating an amazing colour across the background, mixed with the Octabox light, it created a stunning look.

Using the Siros strobes allowed us to keep our setup dynamic, and gave us that studio light quality on location, no matter where we were.
