About Jeroen Nieuwhuis

Photographer and director Jeroen Nieuwhuis was born in 1991 in the Netherlands. From the age of 17, he continuously worked for clients all across the globe and has worked with some of the largest advertising companies such as Belstaff, Big Green Egg, Desperados, Harman Kardon, Heineken, JBL, Johnnie Walker, Rituals, Shimano, and many more.

Jeroen also works on numerous personal projects that take him all over the globe. His biggest project, about the life of The Mountain Men, is a photography documentation shot over a three-year period. The outcome is a 240-paged high-quality art book with over 100 images, stories, and documents taking the reader on a historical journey.

Multiple projects gained international attention, for example, winning the Red Bull Illume in the category close-up, and multiple awards at the Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Photo Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards, and the ND Awards.

Els Enfarinats - The floured ones

The annual festival takes place in the town of Ibi in Alicante, Spain on December 28, as part of celebrations related to the Day of the Innocents. In the day-long festival, participants known as the Els Enfarinats dress up in mock military clothing and stage a mock coup d'état. They redeem their authority under a blaze of fireworks, flour bombs, and eggs.
