About Dimitriy Rogozhkin

Dimitri Rogozhkin 320x350 Portrait

I was born and raised in the small village of Malmyzh in Western Russia. In general, I really love creativity and the ability to create things with my hands. In my childhood, I tried different hobbies, including modeling and embroidery, but most of all I liked drawing. In 2011 I bought my first camera, a Canon PowerShot. I remember it was terribly expensive for me. At some point in the past year, photography has become a more convenient form of self-expression than drawing or painting.

Starting out, I photographed portraits, but something was missing. I wanted to give meaning and thought to the photo so that the viewer could sink into the image. I was always attracted to mystical and surrealistic ideas, but it is very difficult to create surrealistic photographs with meaning because you constantly think about the wardrobe, composition, and emotion. Therefore, I constantly consult my peers; but my girlfriend supports me and helps me the most. I have always aimed to create a cinematic image, but now I can’t say that I adhere to a single style. I'm still looking for myself and trying to develop in different genres such as classical portrait, documentary, reportage, etc. The nature of the artist is a state of mind, so it does not matter what you do with your camera or brush.
