How to Photograph White on White

To capture this photograph I faced a couple of small challenges. When shooting a white fashion shoot on white background you need to have your focus first on the background to create the wanted separation from the model to the background.

How is that achieved?

In this case I used two Siros 800 combined with a P70 reflector and illuminated the background. The background needed to be white (255/255/255). To get a clear separation you have to make sure that the background doesn’t illuminate the model indirectly.
The model was sitting on a white plexiglass to achieve some extra reflections.
One P70 reflector was placed underneath the plexiglass to create a catch light in the models eye.

Next step was to choose a lightshaper that gives a soft yet brilliant light. Our Satellite Staro was the perfect choice. The strongly centre-orientated diffuser adds brilliance, making the light more attractive than that of a homogeneously illuminated softbox. The honeycomb grid was used to help direct the light even more precisely and to reduce the coverage angle. This combination helps you to achieve even more spot-like illumination.

I enjoyed my time capturing a clean, white, fashion photograph.
