To give the dancer as much room to move as possible, a large-area setup was used. This also ensured that the light remained largely the same over several square meters.
A Softbox 90x120 cm was used as the main light from the right. This stood directly on the floor and therefore also optimally illuminated body parts facing the floor, such as the back here. This light was supplemented by a large Softbox hanging down from the studio ceiling with side lengths of 120 and 180 cm. Since this light source was used without a honeycomb grid, it also provided the bulk of the background lighting.
A narrow Softbox 30 x 120 cm provided a very subtle backlight from the back left. This helped to separate the body nicely from the background with a fine outline.
Since the lighting setup was large, a relatively large amount of light was reflected off the bright studio walls. Therefore, additional brightening of the shadows was not necessary.
To guarantee a perfectly sharp image of the fast movements, the Scoro 3200 S Generator was programmed with a flash firing time of 1/8000 sec. Even if the camera shutter remained open longer, this value indicated the actual relevant exposure time.
Photographs were taken with a full-frame DSLR camera and a focal length of 85 mm. At a sensitivity of ISO 100, the exposure was made with f/8 and a shutter speed of 1/200 s (flash duration: 1/8000 s).
