Forough Yavari

Forough Yavari is an Iranian-Australian visual artist, fine art portrait and fashion photographer, and educator based in Melbourne, Australia. With a background in painting and more than two decades of experience in the visual arts, her work brings together photography, constructed environments, and a strong focus on light and storytelling.

Light has always been central to Forough's practice. Working mainly in the studio, she uses light to build atmosphere, shape her subjects, and support the narrative within an image - combining carefully controlled lighting with expressive portraiture, sculptural elements, and set design.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Melbourne Design Week, the LA Art Show, CONTEXT Art Miami, and Milan Image Art Fair. She has twice been named International Portrait Photographer of the Year and received Grand Awards from both WPPI and The Portrait Masters.

Alongside her artistic practice, Forough is an international speaker and educator, presenting workshops and masterclasses in studio lighting, portraiture, and creative post-production.
