How to Photoshoot Under Windy Conditions

The dress that the model is wearing in this shot only looks good when there is a lot of wind, air and movement in it.

This, however, requires special light qualities:
First of all, the flash duration has to be short enough to "freeze" the fast movements of the fabric. Secondly, the light shapers should not be too close to the model - otherwise the light's fall-off would be too fast and the illumination uneven; the model needs a few metres where the light is perfect and of the same intensity. Again, the lights should be at least 4 or 5 metres away from the model.

For these reasons, Paras are the best choice. Even over several metres they provide a very high light output and even light distribution. The high light output allows a low power-setting on the power pack and this guarantees an extremely short flash duration.

Two Paras are used for this shot: a Para 222 from the front and an 88 as backlight.
