How to photograph Food: Pasta

In this food image the objects are placed on a rusty metal board. The Litepipe P is used as the main light. It is placed horizontally in a low position and it mainly serves as a backlight. By using the counter reflector, the light is directed and not bouncing on the white walls, and in this way the contrast is not destroyed. The Litepipe P is practically the only light on the egg - none of the other hard lights would shape the egg so nicely.

A Picolite with a projection spot is placed on the right side in a very low position. Thanks to the templates controlling the light shape it is really easy and comfortable. I can even focus or defocus the light beam - in this case it is used defocused.

One normal reflector P-70 with a honeycomb is placed on the left side, another Picolite with a Fresnel attachment on the right side, both illuminating only a small part of the image in order not to destroy the atmosphere.

The blade of the knife needed an additional light reflecting onto it, as none of the other lights did. A Softbox 35x60 placed far away and with a low power reflects into the blade making this visible, but having no influence on the other object as they are not shiny.

The image has been taken with a medium format camera and a focal length of 120 mm. The exposure time was 1/125 s and the aperture f/22 with ISO 100.
