The image was taken in a wine cellar where there was not any daylight. The only available light were some dark tungsten lamps and some fluorescent tubes on the celling. Taking a portrait with only those lamps would have been impossible.
To see a bit the light of those lamps and feel the atmosphere of the room, I used a tripod and set the camera on an exposure time of 1/20 s and and aperture of f/5.6 at ISO 200.
For the person I used a P-Soft with a grid, which gave me a concentrated light on the man, with dark shadows and nice highlights in his eyes. No fill-in was necessary for him.
On the right side a Softbox was used as a side/backlight for the person and the wooden wine tank (you see the light on pants, wood, face and shirt).
These two light shapers were mounted on mobiled lamps. Working with the battery move 1200 power pack with no need of cables is really easy and so important on location.
In the background, the available light was almost enough, expect for the last wine tanks on the left side of the image which were completely dark. For those wine tanks an additional Siros L with a P-70 and a strip Grid 5:1 was used to illuminate them. The long horizontal shape of the strip Grid 5:1 s ideal for this purpose, illuminating all of them. As for the colour temperature I left the modelling light on, so it matched the colour of the background better.
The image has been taken with a 35 mm camera. The exposure time was 1/20s and the aperture f/5.6, with ISO 200.
